Learning Commons

Aurora Virtual School is pleased to be able to offer access to a suite of quality digital resources for registered students. These resources are all available through AVS for online use at home or anywhere you have internet access, and have all been approved for use with BC curricula and support the Learning Outcomes from them. Specific log-in information will automatically be emailed to students of AVS upon registration. If you have not received this information, please contact AVS directly.

Tumblebooks Library - The TumbleBook Library is a collection of animated, talking picture books that are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. There are also various games available to reinforce literacy and ICT skills. Books are available in English, French and Spanish.

TumbleBookCloud Junior is an online collection of ebooks and read-along chapter books, graphic novels, educational videos, and audio books! It’s designed specifically for elementary and middle schools. All books are available with unlimited access, all the time, from any device with an internet connection.

World Book - WorldBook Web is a collection of grade appropriate on-line encyclopedias which combines authoritative content and rich multi-media features. This resource can be used to promote the development of good research skills or used as a knowledge-based teaching resource.

MediaSmarts - develops and provides award winning resources for use in classrooms to improve digital literacy, media literacy, and critical thinking skills for students of all ages. These resources include: My World, Passport to the Internet, Reality Check! Evaluating Online Information, and Web Awareness Workshop Series. Resources are available in English and in French.
