Reporting Periods and Report Cards for AVS Students
This is traditionally a time when schools prepare report cards to send home so that students and their parents are informed about their progress at school. This is generally done 3 or 4 times in the year. At AVS, we strive to keep all of our students and parents as up-to-date as possible. However, due to the nature of online learning and the more individualized pacing that students work at, regular reporting periods do not serve students’ needs very well. This is why students accessing courses at AVS will receive a formal report card or transcript on completion of the course. This does not mean that a student only finds out how they are doing once they complete a course. We take pride in keeping the Gradebook found in each Moodle course site as up-to-date as possible. The Gradebook contains all summative evaluations such as quiz, assignment, and test results, as well as formative assessments from the feedback teachers provide on individual assignments. We encourage all our students and their parents to regularly check the Gradebook for current progress in each course.
We are always happy to host parent / student / teacher meetings and can do so in person or virtually. If you are interested in speaking to your child’s teacher, please contact them to set up a mutually acceptable time to have a chat. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us so we can work together to make learning at AVS as positive as possible.
