Teacher:
  • Create student learning plans (in collaboration with parent and student) that reflect the needs of the student and meet the Yukon prescribed learning outcomes.
  • Indicate instructional strategies, learning activities, and resources to support the individual student’s learning   plan.
  • Provide consistent assessment (1 formal report cards per year) to evaluate student progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Provide expertise and support in understanding of curriculum content and learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate enriched programs and access district services for students with individual education plans.
  • Connect students to social situations (onsite activities) where they have the opportunity to interact as a community of learners.
Parent:
  • Collaborate with the teacher to develop and implement the student learning plan.
  • Ensure that student work is submitted to the teacher on a regular basis for on-going assessment and feedback.
  • Communicate regularly with the teacher through a variety of means: face to face meetings, phone calls, email, mail, etc.
  • Provide an environment that encourages learning, where the parent is actively involved in facilitating learning that is indicated in the student learning plan.
Student:
  • Ensure that assignments are completed to the best of his/her ability.
  • Be involved with the planning stages of the student learning plan when applicable.
  • Strive to be a motivated, active learner.
